Featured Artist Philip Steury

This weeks featured artist is photographer Philip Steury, and this is his story.

I grew up Amish near the small historic town of Grabill, Indiana. As a young boy I spent hours wandering around the woods and fields studying the details of God's creation.

I have always had a passion for art and creating things. I left the Amish in 2005 and developed an interest in photography. The first camera I purchased was a Canon powershot sd780is. It was a great little camera and I learned a lot about photography with it, but soon realized you could only do so much with a point and shoot.

I have since upgraded to a Canon 5d mark 2 and have 3 lenses, the canon EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM is my main lens for weddings and landscapes, the canon EF 200mm 1:2.8 L is my main portrait lens, and the canon Macro EF 180mm 1:3.5 L is my go to lens for closeups.

Although I do shoot weddings on occasion my main interest is macro, landscapes and all things art. I'm also a contributor for Fotolia and Adobe Stock. I currently live in Auburn, Indiana with my wife and 3 beautiful children.
