Africa From A to Z - H

Today we have a couple of images of Africa's most dangerous land animal, the hippopotamus, together with three very different birds. We begin in East Africa in Kenya and then travel south to Tanzania and finally across the continent to the Gambia.

Staying in Kenya we have the Hadada Ibis, so named because of its extremely loud and distinctive "haa-haa-haa-de-dah" call.

Moving over to the west coast of Africa and the Gambia, we see a Hooded Vulture. This is in the grounds of the Senegambia Beach Hotel, where at 11.00 every morning they feed the vultures and dozens, if not hundreds of vultures flock in for an easy meal.
