Featured Photographer Lynn Bauer

Today's featured artist is photographer Lynn Bauer.

My name is Lynn Bauer. I was born and raised in Southern California where my father was a lighting director for the studios. So, when I picked up a camera and showed some interest, my dad jumped right in and took an interest in helping me develop my skills. I majored in Photography during my high school years, where Dad and I came up with some pretty creative projects that were primarily devoted to creative lighting, as that was his speciality. From there, I was accepted into a sought after photography school. But, as sometimes happens…I fell in love, got married, and spent the next number of years raising my kids.

Once they “left the nest,” my husband gifted me with something I have come to treasure…my first digital camera…and, life seemed to begin again!!

I have many “favorite” things to photograph. On a personal note, it would be my adorable grandchildren. But, next to them, I have a love for nature and just about everything outdoors! California is packed with incredible scenery, from it’s sunrises and sunsets at the beach, grand mountains, national parks, beautiful deserts…and so much more. I have been blessed to photograph well-know and iconic places, as well as many off-the-beaten-path locations.

I chase wildflowers, as well as fall colors. My pursuit of wildflowers often takes me to our “second home,” where we plan to retire, one day, in the state of Texas. And, I have traveled across our country for fall colors on the east coast. But, I am blessed that California has a great wealth of both wildflowers and fall colors when things line up right, and I can be kept very busy at home, as well!

One last passion that I would like to share with you is my love of hummingbirds. I have spent years learning about them and creating an environment to lure then into our yard, where I can watch them closely. And, this also gives me great opportunities to photograph them…and, I spend countless hours doing just that!!
